BRIDGING THE GAP IN VICTIM-RELATED RESEARCH TO PRACTICE

JRSA, in partnership with the National Center for Victims of Crime and the Urban Institute, and with funding from the Office for Victims of Crime, carried out a project to identify causes of, and ways to close, the gap in victim-related research to practice. Project activities included: conducting a comprehensive literature review of prior efforts to bridge the research to practice gap in victim-related research to practice; surveying a broad array of researchers and practitioners to obtain their assessments of the barriers to bridging the gap and ways to overcome these barriers; conducting a series of case studies on current initiatives designed to address the research to practice gap in crime victim services or related fields; and developing a series of recommendations to OVC for ways to bridge the victim-related research to practice gap.
