The New York Statistical Analysis Center (SAC) is located within the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), Office of Justice Research and Performance (OJRP). DCJS is an executive agency under the auspices of the Executive Branch, headed by the Governor.

DCJS has a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: administration of the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program, collection and analysis of criminal justice data, research on criminal justice issues, oversight of the state’s criminal history repository, administration of federal and state criminal justice funds, and law enforcement training. DCJS also advises the Governor on programs designed to improve the effectiveness of New York’s justice system.

The Office of Justice Research and Performance plays a major role in New York State’s criminal justice policy and program development by analyzing data, conducting research, and evaluating program effectiveness.
