JRSA Welcomes New Staff Member
Shawn M. Flower joined the JRSA staff in May 2012 as a part-time Research Associate working on the National Juvenile Justice Evaluation Center. She earned her undergraduate, M.A., and Ph.D. degrees at University of Maryland, College Park. As a graduate student, Shawn worked as a Program Evaluator conducting process and outcome evaluations on prevention interventions for at-risk youth under the direction of Dr. Denise Gottfredson. Since completing her Ph.D. in 2007, she has worked as the Principal Researcher of Choice Research Associates, providing criminal justice research services that focus on issues of prisoner reentry, female offenders, community corrections, and program evaluation that employ rigorous methodologies. She is a consultant with the National Institute of Corrections Women Offender Initiative, Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation, and serves as Chair of the State of Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Women Offender Management Workgroup.
