William Sousa is the newly appointed Director of the Center for Analysis of Crime Statistics (Nevada's SAC), which is located in the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Dr. Sousa received his Ph.D. in criminal justice from Rutgers University in 2003. From 2002-2004, Dr. Sousa was the Director of Evaluation for the Police Institute at Rutgers-Newark, where he participated in studies related to violence and disorder in New Jersey neighborhoods. He also worked on an evaluation of police-led initiatives to improve safety in public parks in Los Angeles. In 2004 he joined the faculty at UNLV, where he has been involved in studies of police order-maintenance practices and community crime prevention in Las Vegas neighborhoods.
